The Nicolet Bird Club of Three Lakes was established shortly after Three Lakes earned the Bird City WI designation in 2012. The mission of the club is to bring together birders of different skill levels, share the enjoyment of birding, educate the community about birds and the natural world, to foster an appreciation and respect for our local natural resources, encourage bird habitat improvement, and to maintain the Bird City WI designation. An important requirement of Bird City WI is the annual Bird Fest celebration which is held the first weekend in June. This family oriented event features guided bird and nature walks, guest speakers, children’s activities, and more which is held at the Three Lakes Center for the Arts and the Thunder Lake State Wildlife Area. This is a major fund-raising event which the club uses for public education and community projects. Club meetings are held in the Demmer Memorial Library the third Monday of the month starting at 6:30 pm unless the club is away on a field trip. The public is always welcome.
